So I've been going crazy with photos and collections, so I thought I'd better do something with them. Here is a mini tour of a 2 month trip I took to South East Asia 3 years ago.
I flew into Japan and spent about a week in Tokyo
With the help of the family I was staying with (I have an SF friend how has family in Tokyo) I bought a few shinkansen tickets to travel a few more cities in japan. The first stop was Kyoto where for 3 days I visited countless temples and made a few friends
Afterward I continued further to Hiroshima and stayed another 3 days visiting the beautiful Miyajima Island and fending off deer
After that I took the train back up to Tokyo where I spent a day before leaving for China. My first stop was Shanghai, where I got dupped into paying for an elaborate meal including foods I couldn't eat (pidgeon)
After spending a week in Shanghai, I decided it was time to move on. I took an over night train for Beijing
I got to see a lot of things in Beijing and I met some friendly people on the train. However I also got horribly sick for a day. My next stop was Xi'an
Xi'an is where the terracotta soldiers were found and an old capital of China. I was still getting over being sick in Beijing and in both cities it had been freezing cold. Luckily my next stop was Hong Kong
In Hong Kong I shed the down jacket I had to buy in Beijing and zipped off the legs of my pants (they were convertable!) Hong Kong went by too quickly and I was soon on a plane for Hanoi, Vietnam
In Hanoi I made a few day trips out to the surrounding area, including Ha Long bay and the Perfume Pagoda. In town, a friend led me around to the various sights. Soon I was leaving again, headed on the train for Nha Trang
Nha Trang is a beach town and was very relaxing. Then it was back on the train again, and to Saigon. Boy was it hot!
After Saigon, I caught a plane back to Tokyo where I spent a solitary Christmas day waiting out my 12 hour layover. It wasn't so bad because I had left some things with my host family there and I got to have lunch with them before I left. Plus, when I returned to the States again, it was Christmas day all over again!
